Chuck Duval Chuck developed a loyal following of customers and friends who quickly discovered that he was a man of his word. Within a short period of time, Chuck became the co-owner of City Wide and continued to build the company by providing HVAC solutions to builders and homeowners alike. After adding significant growth to City Wide, Chuck became the sole owner of the business in 1963. As Chuck’s customer base continued to grow, so did his family. In 1964 he and his wife Vicky welcomed their sixth child. Growing up, all six of his children worked at City Wide after school and during the summers. While each were encouraged and supported by Chuck to pursue whatever career they wanted in life, eventually all five sons chose to work along side their father and joined him in the business. By the late 1960’s, City Wide Heating and Cooling had grown to be one of the largest residential HVAC companies in the area. In the early 1970’s Chuck’s eldest sons Tim and Nick joined the company. Soon after, City Wide made a strategic decision to enter into the commercial installation side of the HVAC business. They slowly started a commercial division, making sure they could provide the same level of quality and customer service to the new customer base that City Wide would now be serving. Chuck was beginning to realize his vision and dream of providing sales and service of heating and cooling systems to both the residential and commercial communities. City Wide was nicely positioned to serve the burgeoning Kansas City markets and as luck would have it, Chuck’s sons, Ted, Doug and Chris joined the Company in the early 1980’s, each playing integral roles in helping their father continue to grow all aspects of the business. After many years of hard work and enduring friendships, Chuck decided to retire in 1988. Through all of the economic ups and downs, sweltering hot summers and frigid winters, City Wide has endured. Today, Chuck’s five sons proudly continue the City Wide tradition, now celebrating their sixth decade in business. They are grateful for their long standing loyal customers and continue to add new customers every day. They are especially proud that City Wide Heating & Cooling, Inc. remains a family owned and operated business and still represents the strong work ethics their father instilled in them at a young age: work hard, be a man of your word, take pride in your work by providing high quality service and make some friends along the way. |
